Have you ever been on the look out for the “down in the dumps quick fix?” I have. You get discouraged and down. But you don’t want to feel that way. So you search for something to help shake off the blues.
“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Who so disturbed…? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Psalm 42:5
I don’t believe in “quick fixes.” But I do believe in redirecting your focus. And I believe there’s something powerful in saying, “I will praise you anyway.” It is OK and honest to admit that your soul is longing for something. Why not offer a sacrifice of praise? You may not feel like it. But what if it is a first step for your downcast, disturbed soul? I will hope in you today, God. I will offer you praise. I will. – Sandi
