You are not the first person who loves God and is also afraid. I used to heap shame on myself for the fear that crept into my mind and heart. I know that we are not supposed to be controlled by or consumed by fear. But I also know that, sometimes, fear happens.
“When I am afraid, I will trust in you.” Psalm 56
I love the honesty of David, who wrote this verse. He loved God. But he also faced a lion, a bear, and a giant. Fear happens. David knew what fear felt like. He also knew that He could trust God. One didn’t hinder the other. He didn’t let fear keep him from the battle or from victory. I pray that we won’t either. I don’t know what you’re facing today.
