Several years ago, the retina in my left eye detached. After a couple of surgeries, my sight was restored, but there is permanent distortion because of the way the retina was reattached. With that eye, straight lines look wavy. Everything tilts to right. I have to remind myself that even though it appears one way, it is actually something different.
“O Lord, open his eyes so he may see. Then the Lord opened the servants’ eyes, and he . . . saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around.”
(2 Kings 6:17)
The city was completely outnumbered and surrounded by the enemy. Everyone could see that. But Elisha saw something more. He saw that the enemy was outnumbered and surrounded by God’s heavenly army—which is why he was at peace while those around him were in a panic. You may feel overwhelmed by what you’re facing today. Perhaps your vision is distorted, or incomplete. There is always more going on than we can see. May God give you a glimpse of the truth.
