Why pray? If I’m honest, sometimes I pray more often because I think it will improve the odds of getting what I want. Then I read about Jesus who prayed 3 times for the same thing. Why was He praying?
“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death…Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me…if it is not possible…may your will be done.” Matthew 26:38-42.
Jesus prayed for strength to endure the cross. He prayed to hear from His Father. And He prayed to receive comfort. I need that reminder. Prayer isn’t about getting what I want. It is about surrendering to what our Father knows is best and receiving the strength and comfort to walk it out. Why pray? Because you’re talking and listening to a God who loves you and walks with you through every moment of the day. – Sandi
