Worship is not my first response to suffering. I usually throw a pity party before the praise party. I think God understands our human response to pain. He has compassion when we’re hurting. But I also think He uses the “even if” worship we offer when we’re suffering.
“Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown in prison….About midnight they were praying and singing hymns to God and the other prisoners were listening… everybody’s chains came loose.” Acts 16:22-26
They had every right to complain and cry. And perhaps they did earlier in the evening. But when they chose to worship, other people took notice. And God set people free.
What could happen if you worship through your pain today? Who else could be encouraged? God just may use your worship today to usher in freedom…for you and those around you.- Sandi
