What if it isn’t enough to simply love God? What if the evidence of our love for Him is found in loving and serving others?
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27
Strong words. From Jesus’ brother, James. He knew Jesus better than most. And He knew it wasn’t enough to merely know Jesus. We need to be like Him. Love like Jesus.
The world will never be changed simply because we love Jesus. Change happens when we give our love away to those who need it the most.
We love Jesus because He first loved us. We love and serve the hurting because it is God’s heart in motion. It changes the world. And it is so good for our hearts as well.
I’m challenged by this. If we love God, He expects that love to spill over into others lives. He honors our love for Him when it serves the abandoned and helpless.
May God’s love change and open our hearts. To truly know Him is to love like Him. -Sandi
