It is good for my heart to ponder the intimate love that God has for me. To not settle for the vastness of His love for the world. But to soak in His love and affection for me personally.
“How great is the love the father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” 1 John 3:1
He didn’t have to do it. God could have chosen to have a more formal, less personal relationship with us. Or none at all. But instead, He chose adoption.
As an adoptive mom, this speaks to my heart. And it reveals the heart of God.
He is the King. His only Son, Jesus, is perfect. Yet His heart aches for us to be in His family as well. His heart longs to love us and have an intimate relationship with us. He needs nothing from us yet lavishes all of His love and affection on us.
That is not only the heart of a King, but the heart of a perfect Father. He knows our sin and rebellious nature. Yet He wants to be our Father. He forgives. He blesses. He heals. He gives eternal life. How great is His love for you. And me.
If you’ve been adopted by God, then thank your Father today. If you haven’t responded to His invitation yet, cry out to Him and receive the gift of new life.
