Even when you’re heading in the wrong direction, God is patient and kind as He pursues your heart.
Jonah loved God. But he also (like us) chose his own way over God’s plan. God’s response was unusual, but also evidence of His faithfulness.
When the sailors threw Jonah overboard,
“The Lord provided a great fish to swallow Jonah and he was inside the finish for 3 days and three nights.” Jonah 1:17
And from inside the fish, Jonah began to pray and praise God.
“The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me…but you brought my life up from the pit…I will sing a song of thanksgiving…” Jonah 2:5-9
Have you ever thought of the fish as being God’s provision for Jonah? It was a rescue plan. Protection. And Jonah knew it. From inside the belly of the fish, He thanked God.
God loves you. Even when you make bad choices. He rescues. He provides. Can you, like Jonah, pause to praise Him today, regardless of your surroundings? He is faithful. Even when we aren’t. – Sandi
