Do fear and faith seem to battle it out in your mind and heart? Mine too.
“Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake and the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples woke him, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!’ He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he rebuked the winds and waves, and it was completely calm.”
Matthew 8:23-26
Everything about this story feels familiar. The “without warning” storms. Jumping to the worst-case scenarios. More fear than faith. And God’s faithfulness.
It is easy to see the disciples “little faith.” It is also easy to identify with it. But don’t overlook the fact that Jesus responded. They may not have had “great faith” but they knew who to call out to. Their “little faith” was enough.
If your faith seems small and your fear seems great, call out to Jesus anyway. He hears. And He will respond. May He calm both your soul and the storms around you today. – Sandi
