If you feel small or insignificant. Jesus may see it (you) differently.
“Jesus…watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Jesus said, ‘This poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything- all she had to live on.”
Mark 12:41-43
Why was Jesus watching the crowd that day? I don’t think it had anything to do with money. He was tending to hearts, just like he always did. And he saw the widow’s heart on display.
He saw the struggle. The generosity. The courage.
She had to feel inadequate as she joined the wealthy in giving an offering. But she gave anyway. Nothing was going to stand in her way. She was faithful with what God had given her. And Jesus celebrated her.
When we feel like we don’t measure up. When we have little to offer. Jesus encourages us to do what we can. He sees your heart. And He celebrates your generosity and courage. – Sandi
