Several years ago, the retina in my left eye detached. After a couple of surgeries, my sight was restored, but there is permanent distortion because of the way the retina was reattached. With that eye, straight lines look wavy. Everything tilts to right. I have to remind myself that what I see isn’t always the way it really is.
“O Lord, open his eyes so he may see. Then the Lord opened the servants’ eyes, and he . . . saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around.” (2 Kings 6:17)
Everyone could see that the city was completely outnumbered and surrounded by the enemy. But Elisha saw something more. He saw that the enemy was outnumbered and surrounded by God’s army. And that brought him peace.
You may feel overwhelmed by what you see today. Remember, there is more going on than what you can see. May God give you a glimpse of the truth. He surrounds you with His faithfulness. – Sandi
