“Will you sit with me in the ashes?” That is how a friend of mine described a heartbreaking time in their life and how they reached out for help.
We’ve all been there…feeling our lives have gone up in flames. What we need is someone to simply join us in the rubble.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice. Mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12: 15
The simple, practical truth of that verse is life changing. It reminds us that we don’t have to have the perfect words for someone who is hurting. What they need most is to know they’re not alone. They’re seen. And loved.
Who needs you to sit with them today? You don’t have to say a word as you join their mourning.
Or maybe you need to invite someone to join you in the ashes of your life today. You are not alone. Ask someone to sit with you.
Sharing in someone’s suffering is a gift. For both hearts. – Sandi
