“What is hope, anyway?” I was asked that recently by someone who said she was afraid to hope because it always led to disappointment. She continued, “I’ve prayed for an outcome for over 13 years, and it hasn’t happened yet. So, why should I still have hope?”
“Those who hope in me will not be disappointed.” Isaiah 49:23
I find myself doing it too. Placing my hope in outcomes more than in Jesus. And it leads to disappointment. Every. Time.
God doesn’t always work in the way or the timing that I want. Sometimes He says no. Or wait. He may not respond as I think He should. But if my hope is in the One who gave His own life for me, it resets my mind and heart.
The day will come when we see and understand fully. The day we see Him face to face. And we will not be disappointed. – Sandi
