There’s a lot at stake when we are hateful to each other. One of the last things that Jesus prayed for before He was crucified was unity among His people.
“May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you loved me.” John 17: 23
Jesus wasn’t praying that we all simply “get along.” Jesus knew that the world would be watching. And He knew the power of loving people well. It tears down walls and invites people into His Kingdom. His prayer was that we, who have received His love, would generously share it. When we are hateful and divisive, His love is muted. We can differ in opinion, but may we be united and resolved in loving each other as we have been loved. – Sandi
