When my husband and I were still dating, I didn’t say “I love you” quickly. I had seen the word misused and I didn’t want to simply throw it around lightly. To say “I love you” means this:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs…” 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
Some days I love well. Some days I don’t. But his verse reminds me of the work that the Holy Spirit is doing in my life. He loves us perfectly and then empowers us to love well. May our lives reflect God’s love to a world who is longing to be loved well. – Sandi
