What’s the point? I’ve thought that every time suffering comes my way. I’ve even thought, “If God is good, why does He allow me to suffer like this?”
I don’t have all of the answers….but I have seen God work even through times of suffering. He can use it in ways we can’t imagine during the suffering. Some things we just won’t understand this side of eternity. But sometimes we get a glimpse of Him working…..even through the darkest of times and circumstances.
“We rejoice in our sufferings because suffering produces perseverance which produces character which produces hope.” Romans 5:3
This verse reminds me that I can trust God with my suffering. I can trust that God is not random or cruel. I can trust that He is intentionally working IN my life and IN my circumstances for His glory. And I can trust that He is producing perseverance and character and hope in my life…..all GOOD things from a GOOD God.
I may not rejoice BECAUSE of my sufferings…..but I can rejoice IN my sufferings….because God is in them with me and He’s working through them for good.
