I remember working in radio when I got married and my name changed. I was no longer Sandi Shadowens. I was now, Sandi Brown. A new name. A new life. It was, obviously, significant.
“You will no longer be called Abram. Your name will be Abraham.” Genesis 17:5
There are several times in scripture where God gave people a new name. I love that imagery. It was as if God was saying, “I’m not only going to call you by a different name. I want you to know that I see a new person when I look at you.”
And He says the same to us. When He adopts us into His family, we get a new name: “Child of God.” But it’s more than a name change. God sees us differently. He sees us forgiven, redeemed and fully loved. Do you see yourself that way? If not. Forget who you were. And remember who you are. God does. – Sandi
