There are some things that we do “whether we feel like it or not.” Brush our teeth, comb our hair, drive the speed limit (or close to it).
I have to admit that sometimes, my worship and my joy can drift to an “only when I feel like it” place. If things aren’t going great or if I’m not “feeling it” then I’m not praising Him and my attitude tanks.
“Though the fig tree doesn’t bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails, and the fields produce no food… yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:17-18
I want that kind of joy. The kind that isn’t based on circumstance, my bank account or the weather. The kind of worship that is rooted more in who He is and not how I feel.
If you’re not “feeling” it today, that’s fair. Life is hard. Pain and disappointment are real. But I pray that even in the middle of the struggle, your heart will gravitate to an honest place of gratitude and joy.
May our hearts always say, I will rejoice in Him! – Sandi
