My family was in church recently and my teenage son and I were both pretty snarky to each other right before worship began. The song started and I couldn’t bring myself to sing. My heart was not right and the relationship between my son and me was not right. So I put my arm around my son and said, “I’m sorry.” He put his head on my shoulder and said, “I’m sorry too.”
“If you’re offering your gift at the altar and remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there and go be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5: 23
Worship isn’t a song or an offering of money. Worship is a condition of the heart. And when our hearts are out of tune with God or others, we have work to do before we worship God. I’m thankful for grace because none of us are ever worthy to worship. But if God brings someone or something to mind as you’re “worshipping”…….get it settled. Then you can really worship and God can really bless it! – Sandi
