We may never say it out loud, but we come pretty close to thinking something like this: “God owes me.” We feel like life isn’t fair and God isn’t either. Why isn’t he answering my prayers and doing what I think is best? Am I the only one who veers a little too close to entitlement?
“I will not sacrifice to the Lord an offering that costs me nothing.” 2 Samuel 24:24
David was King. Everyone around was trying to help with his sacrificial offering. He didn’t want to offer “easy” to God. He wanted to offer His best. I don’t know what surrender looks like to you, but I do know that it is costly. Our time. Our resources. Our own desires. When we lay it all down for Him, that is surrender. And that is an offering that God will always honor. – Sandi
