I wrestle with this passage from the Bible. And I think it is because I don’t fully understand or appreciate what it means to be “blessed.”
“Blessed are the poor in spirit…”
“Blessed are those who mourn…”
“Blessed are those who are persecuted…”
(Matthew 5:3-10) What do we do with that? I think we allow God to change our minds and hearts about what it means to be blessed. We’re blessed when we realize that our treasure isn’t found here. We’re blessed when we realize that our lives are not our own and we live with Kingdom purpose.
“Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.” Matthew 5:12
We’re blessed when we can rejoice, regardless, because we know that our reward is in Him. – Sandi
