Undeserved grace and forgiveness. It feels amazing to be on the receiving end. But why is it so difficult to give away?
“…clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience…Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:12-13
I love the concept of grace when I’m the one needing it. But it feels so unfair to forgive someone who has wronged me and doesn’t “deserve” it. You know why? Because it doesn’t come naturally. It isn’t in our sinful, selfish nature to be patient, kind, and grace-giving. So God asks us do something that He knows we can only do with His help and power.
If forgiving feels like it is outside of your ability or desire to do…you’re right. But when you refuse to forgive, it isn’t alright with God. His way is best. He forgives. And He asks us to do the same. It is how our hearts stay available to His Spirit, and how the world sees Jesus. – Sandi
