Full disclosure. I don’t know Greek. I barely know English. But my pastor shared one Greek word that I have never forgotten: Poeme. It is where we derive the words poem and poetry.
“We are God’s workmanship (poeme) created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Have you ever thought of yourself as God’s poetry? I haven’t either. But we are. Handcrafted by God. A work of art. With purpose. When I ponder my life in that context, it affects me. I don’t see God as some distant higher power. I recognize Him as the author of my life. My story. I know that when we look at our lives, we still see the places that don’t rhyme or fit quite right. But I pray that we will fully embrace the God who made us to do good works. When we do, the world sees our poem and gets a glimpse at the Author.
